just spent ages trying to get the gas and electricity re-connected in the new flat....it's impossible. IN MY DAY
you rang the Gas Board and the Electricity Board 
and they came to connect your gas and electricity! Just spend about half an hour being passed from one number to another, and being told, "Well, now you can open an account with a gas supplier of your choice". Huh?? Well, can you give me the NAME of a gas supplier?
"We're not really supposed to do that, because they are supposed to be independent".
Well, suppose you give me the number of British Gas....
which I did finally extract from them.
GRRRR!!!
